Recently conducted event: Elementary School Chemistry Seminar

On August 25, 2010, PUDAK SCIENTIFIC has conducted a seminar called “Scientific Teaching Through Thematic and Games.”

The speakers were Mr. Hiskia Achmad, Drs., a senior chemistry department lecturer at Institut Teknologi Bandung, and Ms. Yunita M. Pd., a chemistry lecturer at Universitas Islam Negeri Bandung who is also the author of the books “Permainan Kimia jilid I & II” (Chemistry Games, 1st & 2nd editions), published by PUDAK SCIENTIFIC.

This seminar was held from 8:30am to 4:00pm and located in the Assembly Hall at the factory area of PUDAK SCIENTIFIC, Gedebage, Bandung. It is recognizable that although this event was held in the month of Ramadhan, seminar participants which consisted of elementary school teachers in Bandung were still very  highly enthusiastic. This was because both speakers presented very interesting discussions and demonstrations throughout the whole event.

The seminar showed that teaching science, especially chemistry, can be done in an easy and fun way. We may not realize that everyday we are actually interacting with chemical substances. For example: the detergent we use to wash our clothes. When we mix water with the detergent powder, we will have slick water with some foam on the top. This simple demonstration and be used to teach chemistry to elementary school students.

The first session of the seminar was discussions and presentation by Mr. Hiskia Achmad. Followed by a workshop session conducted by Ms. Yunita and assisted by PUDAK SCIENTIFIC team members. The workshop which utilized PUDAK SCIENTIFIC's training tools and other materials that can be found around us, was a big success.
